North Essex: New mental health trust launched

A new mental Health trust responsible for mental health services across north Essex was launched this week.

The North Essex Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is one of the first in the country to combine health and social services for mental health patients in one organisation.

 

It has taken over the mental health services formerly provided by Mid Essex Community and Mental Health NHS Trust, North East Essex Mental Health NHS Trust, Essex and Herts Community NHS Trust and Essex County Council‘s social services department.

The chairman of the new trust, Mary St Aubyn said: “This is a new and exciting way of working and I believe it gives us a real opportunity to improve the quality of mental health services for the people of North Essex.”

The chief executive of the new trust is Richard Coleman, formerly chief executive of Mid Essex Community and Mental Health Trust.

New Trust: At the launch of the new North Essex Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust were Mary St Aubyn, trust chairman with, Sarah Phillips, Ron Seeley, Richard Coleman and Bill Frame.
